When You're Tired of Walmart, Shop Locally

Everywhere you go in Rocky Ford you find history.  In the years since this website was started, we have seen Main Street & Highway 50 come alive again. Where there were once empty buildings there are now businesses that seem to be bustling such as a barber shop, auto part store, book store, and many thrift stores just to name a few.

Check out Don's for Lads and Dads.  As a little kid from the 1960's, I remember buying clothes there and shoes next door at Love's Shoe Store.  Inside Don's, you will find everything a clothing section needs.  Belts, boots, wallets, pants, shirts, hats - you name it, Don and his wife will try to make you happy.  This store is an icon in the Arkansas Valley.  Supporting it supports Rocky Ford.

Harris Pharmacy is everything a drug store should be, minus the soda fountain.  It is a bigger store than you think when entering and it is jam pack full of not only health care items but all the trinkets and gizmos that make wandering fun.

Global Treasurz (owned and operated by the Arkansas Valley Community Center) re-opened in 2010 after moving into a bigger building on Main Street. They are a local non-profit thrift store run by residents with special needs.

JC's Mercantile has undergone a subtle change.  While it still boasts friendly staff and excellent antiques and thrift, the store has now been set up like a traditional antique mall with different vendors offering their wares in a series of thematic booths.  It is fun to wander and to discover the different local products offered (the apple butter is stunning).  What is the most fun about this change is that JC's is now open every day 9-5 instead of just on Fridays and Saturdays.  Don't miss this classy business; you will spend a little money but not too much!

Loves Antiques sells antique/vintage furniture and collectibles. They are located on Main Street so make sure to stop by and say hello.

Ark Valley Lumber is your one-stop shop for all your hardware needs.

The Coffea Shop is a great place to stop and get your caffeine fix!

The Rocky Ford Food Market is there for your meal time needs.

Local Restaurants

The China Kitchen prepares some of the best Chinese food that we have had. It's as good or better than any big city Chinese restaurant and they deliver too!

The Fiesta, Mission Deli, and Taqueria Mexico all serve authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine.

The 10th Hole is located on top of PlayPark Hill at the Rocky Ford Country Club. The food is good and the service is friendly.

Christine's makes old new again - On the western edge of town, there used to be a quaint white church complete with a steeple.  Time took its toll and the building aged until the owners of Christine's revitalized the property.  Christine's is now an established restaurant in Rocky Ford, serving up better than average sandwiches and excellent home baked pies (we recommend the steak sandwich).  The care with which they restored the exterior of the church is beautiful.  Sitting in the dining room one can imagine the building as a church 100 years ago.  Visit their website at www.ChristinesFineDining.com.

We are adding new businesses as we see or hear about them. If you know of anything we should be boasting about please send us an email.
